What to Expect After Applying:

Our goal is to carefully consider each application and identify individuals who are knowledgeable, passionate about food resilience, and effective communicators. Here’s how our review process typically works:
Phase 1: Initial Application Submission & Screening
- Application Received: Once you submit your application (via our online form or email), you will receive an automated confirmation acknowledging receipt.
- Preliminary Review: Our team will conduct an initial screening of all applications to ensure they meet the basic requirements outlined on the “Apply As Instructor” page. This includes verifying the completeness of the application and the relevance of the applicant’s expertise to our educational focus.
- Expertise Alignment: We will assess how well your stated areas of expertise align with our current and anticipated educational needs and the interests of our community.
Phase 2: In-Depth Review & Evaluation
- Detailed Assessment: Applications that pass the initial screening will undergo a more in-depth review by our instructor selection committee. This committee may include experienced instructors, curriculum developers, and members of the Food Resilience School NZ leadership.
- Qualifications & Experience: We will carefully evaluate your CV/resume, focusing on your relevant qualifications, practical experience, and any prior teaching or facilitation experience.
- Proposed Course/Workshop Outline (If Provided): If you submitted a course or workshop outline, we will review its content, structure, and potential appeal to our audience. We look for clarity, practicality, and alignment with our educational philosophy.
- Passion & Communication (Evidenced in Application): While not a formal interview stage, we will look for evidence of your passion for food resilience and your ability to communicate your ideas clearly and enthusiastically in your application materials.
Phase 3: Interview & Further Assessment (If Applicable)
- Shortlisting: Based on the in-depth review, a shortlist of candidates will be created.
- Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an online or in-person interview. This will be an opportunity for us to learn more about your experience, teaching style, and your vision for potential courses or workshops.
- Practical Demonstration (Optional): Depending on the area of expertise, we may request a short practical demonstration or a presentation on a relevant topic to assess your teaching abilities.
Phase 4: Final Selection & Onboarding
- Reference Checks (If Necessary): In some cases, we may conduct reference checks with previous employers or relevant contacts.
- Offer of Instructor Position: Successful candidates will be offered an instructor position with Food Resilience School NZ.
- Onboarding Process: New instructors will undergo an onboarding process to familiarize themselves with our school’s policies, procedures, and educational philosophy. This may include meetings with our team, access to instructor resources, and collaborative curriculum development.

The timeline for the review process can vary depending on the volume of applications received and our current needs.
